Here's the third project for this week - a little matchbook gift holder. Bear in mind that it looks a lot better in person. I procrastinated until it was too late to take a good photo, so it got smooshed in the scanner.
This is the outside. It uses the "Thanks" embosslit and a hostess set, Wings of Friendship. I embossed/cut the "Thanks" two times - once in Handsome Hunter and once in Ruby Red. Then I punched the Ruby Red "thanks" with the modern label punch and layered it over the Handsome Hunter one. The flowers are stamped on Blush Blossom in Handsome Hunter and Ruby Red. I added a little Crushed Curry to the flower centers.
Here's the inside - (Scroll down......)
There's a little "pouch" in the insert (under the Handsome Hunter layer) for chocolate or a little note or... chocolate. I haven't decided what I want to put in it yet. It's almost big enough for a gift card (as Maxwell Smart would say, "Missed it by that much!"). It's just a hair too small. It fits, but it doesn't close well. Frankly, that wouldn't bother me if I were on the receiving end of a great gift card in a handmade holder. But maybe that's just me.
Gotta run. Time to start thinking about sleep. Jonathan was at a show in Fredericksburg last night and wasn't home when I went to bed. So I woke up at 3 a.m. and couldn't get back to sleep until I checked to make sure he was home ok. (He was.) Then I had to ask how the show went, how he was feeling, and all the other mom stuff. He's been fighting cold and allergy symptoms all week, so, of course, I had to remind him to use Vick's, take something and get to sleep! I know the boys think I think they're still kids. But, seriously - here I am - well, we won't talk about how old. I've hinted about the Summer of Love and other things that only people well into or past middle age would know, but I'm not going to spill it. ANYWAY - my mother still reminds me of stuff like that ("Did you take your vitamins?" "Do you have a camisole on to hold in body warmth?" "Do you need another jacket?") - so I guess the boys will just have to put up with it for another 30-40 years. So, after checking on both boys (who, of course, were still up at 3 a.m.), I couldn't get right back to sleep, but still woke up at the regular time. So - I'm yawning and still have paper to cut. I think that's going to wait until tomorrow.
Have a great Sunday!
